How to mix concentrated watercolor paint?

Hi, I always have a heck of a time mixing my concentrated watercolor paint with actual water. I have no idea if I’m doing it the “right” way but I pretty much have just been combining water to the concentrate and trying to stir it. But it always leave big clumps of concentrated paint in the water. If I’m doing it incorrectly please tell me the correct process before I waste anymore paint!
Well by concentrated, I mean the concentrate is in liquid form. But you have to mix it with water to be able to paint with it.

I need to answer this question with a question. What brand of watercolor are you using? Often times the student grade watercolors can be frustrating to work with and can give disappointing results . They can separate and not not mix very well. “Concentrate in liqiud form”? Do you mean watercolor in the tube? I always use distilled water for thinning my tube paint and add small amounts at a time until I get the shade and hue I am looking for. I use a white pallet with small indentations for mixing saturated color and larger indentations for creating washes. I am not sure what you mean by “trying to stir it”. Use a good quality brush and spend the time mixing thoroughly before you put brush to paper. You can use a small piece of old watercolor paper to test your color before you begin…or mix it right on the paper that will be your painting. It all depends on your style of painting. A good quality brand of watercolor by the tube is Windsor Newton or Holbein. Don’t give up. Just practice. Happy painting.
