Has any one used the water soluable oil paints by Winton? What are they like?
I would like to know if they are the same as regular oil paint-
Results with Winton water-miscible oil paint is not much different from their regular Winton line. They are made with a linseed oil that has been modified to dissolve in water. Note – the pigment load is NOT as high as the W & N or other professional oils. The same can be said about other water-miscible paints as well – they are not high-end quality, but they are better than student-grade.
The paint works the same as any other oil paint – it smells the same, dries the same, looks the same when you’re finished – the only difference is you can wash your brushes in soap & water, without the need for turpentine or mineral spirits.
Contrary to what people may believe, you do NOT mix these paints with water. Instead, you use a water-miscible linseed oil or you can choose a water-miscible fast-drying medium (many brands make these).
