How can I make this toy pistol more Steampunk?
I have this wood and pewter (I think) replica flintlock pistol and I want to make it look more like a Steampunk/Raygun:

I’ve already painted all of the “metal” parts to look goldish/brass colored, but I need ideas for elaborations, lights, etc. Any suggestions?
If it’s a raygun, it needs a power source other than the hammer and gunpowder one. Perhaps some sort of “reaction chamber” towards the rear or mid barrel. Maybe a flash cone or scope similar to Han Solo’s blaster in the Star Wars films.
Don’t know if you’re familiar with it, but “Girl Genius” is an online comic by Phil and Kaja Foglio which is steampunk. You might browse there for inspiration.
